    Farmers Invited to Strengthen Biosecurity at "Biosecurity On-Farm: A Practical Perspective"

    1Southern New England Landcare and the Guyra Landcare Network invite local farmers to join experts for a one-day event dedicated to improving on-farm biosecurity practices.

    “Biosecurity On-Farm: a Practical Perspective" will be held on October 23rd at the Guyra Community Hall, offering valuable insights on protecting livestock and farming operations from biosecurity threats.

    “This event is an invaluable opportunity for local farmers to strengthen their biosecurity practices and safeguard their operations,” said Elizabeth Rosser, Local Landcare Coordinator with Southern New England Landcare.

    The event will feature renowned speakers, including Dr Nigel Brown, Andrew Scott from the New England Weeds Authority and Jessira Saunders from Integrity Systems.

     

    Dr. Nigel Brown, a former Local Land Services veterinarian, who will discuss current biosecurity risks and practical strategies for risk minimization.

    Andrew Scott from the New England Weeds Authority, presenting on weed identification, control strategies, and the impact of significant weeds in the New England region.

    Jessira Saunders from Integrity Systems, who will explain the key elements of on-farm biosecurity plans and how to stay compliant with industry standards.

    In addition to the presentations, attendees can participate in an interactive panel discussion with local experts after lunch, where they will explore emerging biosecurity risks and share best practices.

    “With the knowledge and insights shared by industry experts, attendees will leave better equipped to manage risks and protect their livestock,” said Elizabeth.

    “We encourage all producers and stakeholders to join us for this important day – it’s a chance to learn, connect, and make a real difference in the future of farming,” she said.

    The event will also feature stalls from local businesses and service providers offering products and services relevant to biosecurity including NT LLS, Guyra Rural Services, Ag360, New England Community College, Farm Gate Support, RAMPH, New England Weeds Authority and more.
