Biosecurity on-farm: a practical perspective, a one-day event designed to equip local farmers with the knowledge and tools to strengthen on-farm biosecurity practices. This event will bring together experts from across the agricultural and livestock industries to discuss current biosecurity risks, practical prevention measures, and the importance of creating on-farm biosecurity plans.
Guest Speakers:
1. Dr. Nigel Brown – A former Local Land Services veterinarian, Dr. Brown will provide an overview of current biosecurity risks facing the agricultural sector, with a focus on disease prevention, pest management, and practical strategies for risk minimization.
2. Andrew Scott – As a representative from the New England Weeds Authority, Andrew Scott will highlight the weeds of significance in the New England region. His talk will cover identification, control strategies, and the impact these weeds can have on farming operations.
3. Jessira Saunders – From Integrity Systems Company (ISC), Jessira will explain the key elements of on-farm biosecurity plans and what is required for livestock producers to implement effective biosecurity measures. Her session will offer valuable insights into staying compliant for with LPA and industry standards and protecting your livestock.
