    Landcare welcomes Alex Hunter

AH staff shot1Southern New England Landcare is pleased to welcome Alex Hunter to the team as the new Administrative Assistant in the office in Beardy Street Armidale.

Growing up in Armidale NSW, Alex was actively involved with the family’s livestock grazing property and has a strong rural background. Passionate about agriculture, Alex completed her Systems Agriculture Degree at Hawkesbury Agriculture College.

She launched her career in agriculture and agricultural marketing with Elders Merchandise, before transferring to their Stud Stock department. Her career path followed opportunities in the beef industry, including three years with the Poll Hereford Society, rural property and agricultural marketing more generally.

Over the past 25 years, Alex has held various senior roles including Membership Manager with Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, Australian Year of the Farmer (2012) Senior Consultant and National Roadshow Manager, and most recently, Quadrant Australia (Agtours) Business Development Manager/ Inbound Tour Manager.

Alex and her partner Bob, returned to Armidale in 2013, where they live on a 50 acre grazing block, ‘Tangara’. Running mainly goats and a small herd of cattle, the old farm is a work-in-progress. They are learning about and applying regenerative ag strategies to boost soil health, pasture species etc, to lift the overall viability of the property.

Alex's new role with Landcare is the perfect fit for opening up new opportunities to learn more about best practise and sharing these ideas with others.
