The National Twitchathon is BirdLife Australia's spring race for bird conservation. It's a friendly competition in which teams of birders race to see or hear as many bird species as possible in a set time, while raising funds for BirdLife's crucial conservation and research projects.
This year team RAVEN ON, consisting of Team Captain Matt Hinze, Liam Murphy and Heath Milne, will be racing from Cobar to Old Bar in the "30hour Big Weekend" with the aim to see 250+ species over the course of the weekend.
All funds raised this year will go towards programs aimed at saving the REGENT HONEYEATER. With fewer than 400 individuals remaining in the wild, this species is literally teetering on the brink of extinction and is one that team Raven On are particularly passionate about saving, as they occur on the Mid-North Coast, New England and Tamworth regions, where we have all been born and raised.
