Armidale Biodiversity Strategy Community Survey closes 14th December 2025
Armidale Regional Council is developing a Biodiversity Strategy to protect and enhance biodiversity across the local government area (Armidale, Guyra, Ben Lommond, Black Mountain, Ebor, Hillgrove and Wollomombi) while our towns and communities grow. Biodiversity is the variety of plants, animals and ecosystems and it provides us with many benefits. It supports clean air and water, helps control pests and diseases, stores carbon, and contributes to our health, wellbeing and the local character.
We want to hear from the people that live and work here so that we can harness local knowledge and values to make the Strategy useful and effective. Your answers will help us understand:
what natural places in the local government area you value most
which biodiversity issues and threats matter most to the community
what practical actions and programs the community would like Council to prioritise.
We will combine and analyse survey responses to identify common themes, priorities and suggested actions. These findings, alongside scientific data, technical studies, and local ecological knowledge, will then be used to inform the Strategy and shape practical evidence-based actions.
A summary of the survey results will be published on Council website and shared with participants who ask to be kept informed.
The Strategy will set out actions that Council and the broader community can take together to protect and enhance biodiversity across the region.
The draft Biodiversity Strategy will be made publicly available for comment before finalisation.
This survey takes about 5 minutes for the short version. If you want to give more detailed feedback there is an optional extended section at the end. Your answers are confidential - your contact details (if provided) will only be used for follow-up and will not be made public.
