    New guide for renewables knowledge

NSWF Renewable Energy Landholder Guide frontcoverNSW Farmers has launched a new guide to help farmers and rural communities navigate the renewable energy transition.

Developed with the support of the NSW Government, EnergyCo and the Queensland Farmers Federation, the Renewable Energy and Transmission Landholder Guide answers common questions about the rights, options and opportunities for farmers as Australia transitions to cleaner power.

NSW Farmers' President Xavier Martin said farmers wanted to know more about renewable energy projects and how to navigate the space.

“Farmers are keen to understand how things work practically and what their options are as renewable energy development continues,” Mr Martin said.

“By equipping farmers and their communities with that knowledge, this guide aims to help landholders navigate the transition, so we can get the right thing in the right place, built in the right way.”

Now available to the public in online and hardcopy formats, NSW Minister for Energy Penny Sharpe said the guide formed part of ongoing efforts to improve outcomes for rural communities during the renewable energy transition.

“This guide reflects our commitment to working with farmers, landowners and others to give them the information they need to engage confidently in renewable energy projects,” Ms Sharpe said.

“We thank NSW Farmers for their collaboration on this guide. It will be a go-to resource for individuals, businesses and communities as they seek information about the REZ.”

Minister for Agriculture and Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty, said the guide covered a comprehensive range of topics to provide support to farmers across NSW.

“The NSW Renewable Energy and Transmission Guide will assist farmers as they navigate the opportunities and challenges involved in the transition to renewable energy in NSW,” Ms Moriarty said.

“This guide will help landholders understand the potential impacts of development and their rights and responsibilities, maximise land productivity, and benefit from new investment in the region.”
