Gordon Williams has been named the 2024 John Winter Irving Bequest Recipient at the 2024 Southern New England Landcare AGM on 13 November 2024.
Gordon lives with his wife Wendy at their property ‘Eastlake’ near Uralla, where they have hosted numerous field events for Landcare and Local Land Services over the years.
Gordon is a long-term member of Southern New England Landcare, specifically as a member of Harnham Landcare Group.
Gordon is a regular attendee at Southern New England Landcare events, including field days, drought resilience pasture workshops, and member musters.
He is one of the Agroforestry Peer Group Mentors, and features in various Southern New England Landcare films such as Maximising Plant Survival - Successful Revegetation.
From 2011 to 2024, Gordon has participated in seven on ground works projects with Southern New England Landcare, including tree planting, habitat protection and enhancement, and direct seeding.
He has also done a variety of projects with the Northern Tablelands Local Land Services and the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust.
Gordon is one of our Agroforestry Peer Group Mentors for the region, alongside several other trained mentors.
The 2024 recipient was chosen from a field of five nominees and the board, and the Winter Irving family have decided on Gordon Williams.
Unable to be at the presentation, Mrs Ona Winter-Irving wished Gordon hearty congratulations.
