Southern New England Landcare is thrilled to announce the launch of several new initiatives aimed at bolstering drought resilience in the Walcha area, thanks to a series of grants recently secured by the organization.
The first of these initiatives is scheduled for Friday, 31st of May with a Walcha Resilience Dinner, starting at 6:00 PM at the Walcha Rams Clubhouse.
This event will feature talks from Renae Hanvin from Resilient Ready and Anna Hughes from the Lachlan Hughes Foundation.
Renae Hanvin will explore the role of community connections and business networks, discussing strategies to convert existing knowledge into new revenue streams using local case studies.
Renae’s talk will also cover how farmers and communities can turn disasters into opportunities for growth.Anna Hughes will continue the theme of resilience and sustainable practices, sharing her experiences and the mission of the Lachlan Hughes Foundation in supporting farmers to thrive despite environmental challenges.
It is a free event, but registration is required due to limited spaces.
"We are excited to have the opportunity bring these event opportunities to the Walcha Community," said Elizabeth Rosser, Project Officer for Sustainable Agriculture from Southern New England Landcare.
"We look forward to working with the Walcha community that is well-equipped to face the challenges of drought and other adversities," she said.
