Southern New England Landcare held its Annual General Meeting at Uralla Community Centre from 6pm on Wednesday 15th November.
Special guest speaker on the night was local Landcarer, Ray South. Ray is a past recipient of the John Winter Irving Bequest, which he used to study and implement Syntropic Agriculture, the topic of his talk.
The composition of the Southern New England Landcare board of directors changed this year, with the retirement of two board members.
Bill Perrottet volunteered his time on the board for an outstanding 12 years, culminating in his final year as President. The board and membership thanked Bill for his significant contribution over many years, noting that he will be missed. Bill reassured everyone that he is still the group respresentative for the Guyra Landcare Network and intends to support biannual member musters.
Recently retired board member Jill Moore Kashima, contributed her time for eight years on the board. Jill was announced as the recipient of the Coordinator's Choice Award at the AGM for her comittment to assisting staff during the last 12-18 months.
SNEL congratulates Sara Schmude and Arleen Packer as new members on the board.
A key highlight of the evening was the announcement of the 2023 John Winter Irving bequest recipient - Kristy Youman from Black Mountain.
Kristy was chosen as the recipient for her outstanding Landcare volunteerism in her local area, and her leadership across the region in providing soils workshops among landholders.
Thirty members and friends from around the region attended the AGM, enjoying the commeraderie of our regular 'Around Our Groups' sharing segment, followed by a light meal and refreshments.
The minutes of the AGM will be circulated by email to all Group Representatives in the coming days.
