The Northern Tablelands Koala Partnership Project Team wishes to thank everyone involved for supporting the koala drone surveys last month.
From August 23, the team conducted nocturnal drone activities between 7pm and 1am, under the guidance of Dr Adam Roff, Senior Research Scientist, Vegetation and Biodiversity Mapping at Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. Drone work is fine weather dependent, so they were lucky with their timing.
Environmental students from UNE were invited to partake as volunteers in the process as koala spotters. The work involved spotting koalas identified through infrared imaging.
The drone surveys were conducted at various sites including Nature Reserves, Travelling Stock Reserves and private properties.
