Southern New England Landcare and the CWA Guyra Evening Branch is proud to host another wonderful event, this time to celebrate Rural Women's Day. Our guest speaker is rural author Annabelle Brayley.
We warmly invite you to join us for this event where you can enjoy some delicious canapes and share some bubbles at the Guyra War Memorial Hall.
Get a group of your girlfriends together, dress up in your cocktail frocks, and enjoy a fun night out celebrating women, and embracing equity in our world!
About our guest speaker:
Annabelle Brayley grew up on a farm on the Western Darling Downs in Queensland, completed her nursing training at the Charleville Hospital in SW Queensland and graduated as an RN in the late 1970s.
In 1980, she married Ian and moved to his family’s sheep and cattle property east of Wyandra.
After dissolving their intergenerational family partnership in 2001, she and Ian relocated a couple of hours north to Morven.
Embracing an unexpected opportunity to write a story, since 2006 Annabelle has been published by both R.M.Williams OUTBACK Magazine and Penguin Books Australia.
Believing that storytelling is the most effective way to influence others, she has written numerous stories about people living/working in agriculture.
Annabelle is the Story Co-ordinator for Girls Talking Ag (GTAg), a project in SWQ initiated by the Rural Economies Centre of Excellence in partnership with Catholic Care and funded by the SQNNSW Innovation Hub.
GTAg celebrates women in agriculture by encouraging and facilitating them to learn new ways to tell their stories.
A past Director of the board of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, Annabelle is a founding director and the Chair of the board of Remote Australians Matter, an organisation established to advocate for equitable access to appropriate primary health care for every remote Australian.
This project is supported by FRRR, through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund. This project is made possible by the NSW Landcare Enabling Program, a collaboration between Local Land Services and Landcare NSW supported by the NSW Government.
