    Small Grants - MDB Healthy Rivers Program

    Grants range between $5,000 and $50,000
    Applications close: 31st March 2021

    Projects must be located in the Murray Darling Basin (i.e. western fall – Beardy, Deepwater, Severn, Mcintyre Rivers). Attn. Balala & Brushgriove group. Applicable to Roumalla Creek.

    The Australian Government is inviting applications for funding under Round 1 of the Murray–Darling Healthy Rivers Program (Small Grants). There is $6 million available in total funding for this round. This is an open, competitive grants round.
     
    The program supports community-led, on-ground projects that improve the health and ecological condition of rivers and wetlands in the Murray–Darling Basin, whilst supporting economic development and jobs.
     
    This program is open to individuals (sole traders), partnerships and companies as well as community groups. Projects must be located in the Murray Darling Basin (i.e. western fall – Beardy, Deepwater, Severn, Mcintyre Rivers). The list of eligible activities is extensive and includes projects such as:

    • managing invasive weeds, pest animals or diseases that threaten ecosystems, habitat and native species 
    • fencing to support environmental protection and/or restoration
    • managing erosion 
    • reducing sediment, contaminant, and nutrient run-off to waterways
    • riverbank rehabilitation
    • habitat protection and rehabilitation
    • revegetation, including with species that are likely to be more tolerant of future, hotter and drier conditions
