Roumalla creekTransport for NSW is funding a biodiversity project aimed at enhancing fauna habitat across NSW.  As part of NSW’s bushfire recovery program, TfNSW has received funds to coordinate the replanting of native vegetation and establishment of compensatory habitat upon lands adjacent to, and within the environs of bushfire affected roads in a number of NSW regions.

TfNSW are extending Expressions of Interest to any interested party to have this work done on their property.

Closing date for return of EOI’s: Wednesday, 7th  April 2021.

Following is information on this project that you, and/or your friends and colleagues, may be interested in having replanting and placement of nest boxes and habitat hollows undertaken on your land. The project has no binding contract agreement, bears no cost to the interested party, and landholders do not need to be members of Landcare. TfNSW North EOs will coordinate access with the nominated landholder to their properties to assess replanting areas and trees to have nest box’s installed, and/or artificial hollows formed and coordinate access for the project’s contractors to undertake the work.

The work will be undertaken between the end April to the end June 2021.

OPERATION GONDWANA REWILD: The project is targeting the following highly bushfire affected regions across NSW

    Bega Valley
    Clarence Valley
    Richmond Valley
    Kempsey to Port Macquarie
    Walcha to Tamworth
    Armidale regional (Guyra Ebor)

If you or anyone you know may be interested in having tube stock plantings of locally native trees, installation of constructed nest boxes, establishment of in situ carved hollows (mimic the natural shapes and sizes of naturally formed hollows) on your property please get in touch with us ASAP and let us know.

Please note that your property does NOT need to have been burnt in order to participate.

Expressions of interest are welcome from private landholders and other land managers including NPWS, Local Land Services, Council and community groups. The project has a short turnaround time, and is currently in early days, but from here on in it is expected to roll out quickly.
