Ken Barnett was stunned recently when told that their group, now known as the North Armidale Walking Tracks Working Group, was to be presented with an Armidale Regional Council Environmental Citizen / Group of the Year Award at the Australia Day ceremony in Central Park.

The North Armidale Walking Tracks (NAWT motto: “We work for NAWT”) Working Group strives to maintain and improve the laneways and riparian areas that extend through to the Armidale Pine Forest.

The group works under the umbrella of the Armidale Tree Group.

Since 2018, following a plan approved by Armidale Regional Council, the group has been successfully removing invasive weeds from selected areas of the laneways and plan to extend their work in the future.
