Bush For Biodiversity - 'Blackbutt'The stunning landscapes on ‘Blackbutt’ will be the focus of an event hosted by the Southern New England New England on Friday 18th November 2022.
“Pat and Debi bought this conservation property, named after the western New England Blackbutt, Eucalyptus andrewsii, from the Biodiversity Conservation Trust to fulfill a longstanding desire to contribute to the protection of and care for endangered and iconic species,” she said. “We are fortunate to have ecologist Dave Carr as our guest expert on the day, who will explain why the Box Gum Grassy Woodland is endangered and outline management strategies to conserve remnant patches,” she said. Dr Pat Neve will speak on his motivations, experiences, and aspirations for ‘Blackbutt’ and the management challenges of private land conservation. This event will be the third held within the Southern New England Landcare region to establish landholder networks and enable landholders undertaking private land conservation to develop knowledge and obtain peer support. “Regional landholders with private land conservation agreements have indicated they want to identify plant communities and learn about the native plants that occur on their land and this event is designed to meet that need,” said Struan. Bush for Biodiversity – ‘Blackbutt’ will be held from 9.30 am – 2.30 pm on Friday 18th November 2022. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a day of walking, talking, learning and meeting other private land conservation landholders from around the region. Download the Flyer. BYO: sturdy boots, raincoat, hat, sunscreen, and water. Morning tea and lunch provided. Tickets are essential for catering purposes at Sticky Tickets. Numbers are limited. Ensure you register for a ticket by 5pm Wednesday 16th November 2022. This event will only take place if the weather and conditions are suitable. We will notify ticket holders of any cancellation or postponement of the event. Anyone interested in being involved should become a member of Southern New England Landcare. Our membership is free and you will receive regular eNews updates about coming events, and advice on new grants as they become available. The BCT is a statutory not-for-profit body established under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 which began operating in 2017. |
