Andrew Biddle Worm Egg CountHere is a recent media release, dated 9 March 2021, by Northern Tablelands Local Land Services District Vet, Dr Andrew Biddle, to help producers manage Barber’s Pole Worm in their sheep flocks.

National Drought & Flood Agency Small Town Tour

The National Drought and Flood Agency will join the Australian Government Mobile Service Centres (MSCs) to travel through north NSW in February and March. MSCs travel extensively to rural and regional communities across Australia to offer people face-to-face access to information about Centrelink and Medicare payments and services.

Coles Nurture Fund

Coles launched the Nurture Fund to help small and medium sized businesses innovate and grow. Since it's establishment, they have offered more than $24 million in financial support to more than 60 Australian food and liquor producers.

Community Hall Grants

Funding: $200 donation

Closing Date: 28th March 2021

Essential Energy’s Community Hall Program aims to give back to the local halls that make up the social fabric of regional, rural and remote NSW and provide a valuable venue for the provision of localised services for their surrounding areas. Applications for the Community Hall Program are now open and close midnight Sunday 28 March. Through the program, eligible halls will receive a $200 donation to put towards general maintenance costs for the hall. For more information or to apply click here.

2021 NAIDOC Local Grants

Closes: Sunday, 15th March 2021 (8:00pm)

Value: $200 to $1,000

Run by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, this grant supports activities being held during NAIDOC Week 2021 (4-11 July 2021) that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, achievements and continuing contributions to our country and society. Activities should align with the National NAIDOC Theme for 2021, ‘Heal Country’. This grant round provides funding to organisations to contribute to the costs of local and regional NAIDOC activities across Australia. Australian Graziers or Rangeland Pastoralists Study Award

The AW Howard Memorial Trust aims to promote and support pasture research. This Award is to enable an Australian pastoralist (farmer, grazier or rangeland pastoralist) to undertake a study tour (in Australia or overseas) to examine pastoral systems and practices that will deliver economic, environmental or social benefits to Australian pastures or rangelands or to rural communities.

Government Incentives for Seasonal Work

To support the agricultural sector and young Australians affected by the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Government is committing $16.3 million to temporarily introduce a new pathway for achieving independence for the purposes of Youth Allowance (student) and ABSTUDY.

From 30 November 2020 to 31 December 2021, a person who earns $15,000 through employment in the agricultural sector will be considered independent for Youth Allowance (student) or ABSTUDY purposes, if claiming from 1 March 2021.

Drought Assistance Fund Expanded

From 1 July 2020, the NSW Government lifted the cap for the Drought Assistance Fund (DAF) to $100,000 per primary producer. This interest-free loan has a term of seven years, with no repayments in the first two years. It is available for the implementation of systems & management practices that enhance the sustainability of farm businesses.

LLS Public Land Boundary Fencing Program

Funding: up to $5,000.
Applications close: 31st March 2021.

Private landholders who share a boundary with public land and were impacted by the Northern and Southern fires of late 2019 and early 2020 are eligible to receive up to $5,000 per kilometre to contribute to the replacement of damaged boundary fences.

NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust

Could you benefit from some additional income to manage this land? The newly-established Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) has a new program that could be of interest. BCT are calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from people interested in earning annual payments to conserve biodiversity on their property.
