Rural Biz Students Available for Volunteering & Work Experience

Do you have an opportunity that would see an international student out experiencing Australian agriculture? If so, RuralBiz Training would love to hear from you.

RuralBiz Training has a new influx of international students this year who are studing towards their Diploma in Agriculture and Advanced Diploma in Agribusiness. You might have some tree planting, fencing, or a landcare group field event or workshop. Or you may even be able to host a student for some ongoing work experience so they can gain basic prctical agricultural skills.

Royal Commission into Natural Disaster Arrangements

The Royal Commission is currently inviting submissions. Individuals, community groups and the broader community can make submissions on the 2019-20 bushfire season. You can make a submission online or call 1800 909 826 to make a submission over the phone.

The Commissioners will meet with a small group of people in each location who are representative of the communities affected by the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires. Click here to find out the locations and submit an Expression of Interest to attend the community forum meetings.

Habitat and Haven Planting Day

Armidale Tree Group will be holding their first community planting day for their "Habitat and Haven" project funded by the NSW Environmental Trust on 29th of March. ATG will provide a BBQ at the end of the day, along with planting tools, portaloo etc. More information and directions.

A portal has been created to gather information, tools and resources, summarise regional NRM responses, provide updates and share stories from across our bushfire affected communities. Click here to go to the portal.


Environment Restoration Fund: Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation

Available: $5,000 – $1,000,000

The purpose of the program is to provide funding to support wildlife rehabilitators (including community wildlife carer organisations, veterinarians, animal hospitals, zoos, local shelter operators and foster carers), to rescue, treat and rehabilitate wildlife impacted by bushfires and return them into suitable natural environments or otherwise take care of them. It will also support actions to preserve at-risk populations of threatened species impacted by destruction of their habitat through bushfire. The investment will also build organisational and carer capacity and preparedness to respond to future emergencies. More information here


$1,000,000 for Rural Events

Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall is encouraging local event organisers to apply for a share of $1 million in State Government funding to deliver local events that attract visitors and provide an economic boost to businesses.
