Roumalla creekTransport for NSW is funding a biodiversity project aimed at enhancing fauna habitat across NSW.  As part of NSW’s bushfire recovery program, TfNSW has received funds to coordinate the replanting of native vegetation and establishment of compensatory habitat upon lands adjacent to, and within the environs of bushfire affected roads in a number of NSW regions.

TfNSW are extending Expressions of Interest to any interested party to have this work done on their property. (Refer to conditions).

Closing date for return of EOI’s: Wednesday, 7th  April 2021.

Regent Honeyeater to grace the Mall

StreetArtNew murals are set to brighten up Armidale’s CBD. Local artist James O’Hanlon has started painting one of a series of murals set to add a splash of colour to the Armidale Mall and its laneways as part of a NSW Government funded project by Armidale Regional Council and Renew Armidale.

The designs created by Mr O’Hanlon celebrate the diverse birdlife that calls the Armidale region home. Some of the featured feathered friends include the regent honeyeater, the king parrot, and the superb fairy wren.

COVID-19 jabs for Armidale

Three general practices are registered to administer the COVID-19 jab in Armidale, with vaccinations beginning on Monday, 22 March.

The full list released by the NSW Health outlines the service providers where the jab is available, for those eligible in the first phase of the rollout.  Armidale Medical Centre, UNE Medical Centre and West Armidale Medical Centre are on the list.

Sponsorship Grants for Student Science Engagement

The Sponsorship Grants for Student Science Engagement and International Competitions provides funds to sponsor young Australians to take part in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) events.

Who is this for? Schools and incorporated organisations.

Close date: 29 Apr 2021 5.00pm AEST
Funding available: $1500 to $20,000 to sponsor eligible Australian students under the age of 18.

The AW Howard Memorial Trust aims to promote and support pasture research. This Award is to enable an Australian pastoralist (farmer, grazier or rangeland pastoralist) to undertake a study tour (in Australia or overseas) to examine pastoral systems and practices that will deliver economic, environmental or social benefits to Australian pastures or rangelands or to rural communities.

LLS Public Land Boundary Fencing Program

Funding: up to $5,000.

Private landholders who share a boundary with public land and were impacted by the Northern and Southern fires of late 2019 and early 2020 are eligible to receive up to $5,000 per kilometre to contribute to the replacement of damaged boundary fences.

Drought Assistance Fund Expanded

From 1 July 2020, the NSW Government lifted the cap for the Drought Assistance Fund (DAF) to $100,000 per primary producer. This interest-free loan has a term of seven years, with no repayments in the first two years. It is available for the implementation of systems & management practices that enhance the sustainability of farm businesses.

NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust

The newly-established Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) has a new program that could be of interest. BCT are calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from people interested in earning annual payments to conserve biodiversity on their property.

Government Incentives for Seasonal Work

To support the agricultural sector and young Australians affected by the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Government is committing $16.3 million to temporarily introduce a new pathway for achieving independence for the purposes of Youth Allowance (student) and ABSTUDY.

From 30 November 2020 to 31 December 2021, a person who earns $15,000 through employment in the agricultural sector will be considered independent for Youth Allowance (student) or ABSTUDY purposes, if claiming from 1 March 2021.
