Koala Drinkers on Offer

Southern New England Landcare recently engaged with the NSW Wildlife Information and Rescue Service (WIRES) to help support a Water for Wildlife project that will provide drinkers for arboreal wildlife (including Koalas) in drought and fire affected areas.

The project will provide 20 koala drinkers to private landholders willing to maintain them.

Bushfire Community Recovery & Resilience Fund Stream 2

Funds: $20,000 to $300,000

Closing: Friday, 11 December 2020

Source: Resilience NSW, formerly the NSW Office of Emergency Management, is the lead disaster management agency for NSW, responsible for all aspects of disaster recovery and building community resilience to future disasters. They oversee and coordinate emergency management policy and service delivery with a focus on social, economic, infrastructure and natural environment outcomes.

NTLLS Bushfire Recovery Small On-Farm Grants

Funding: up to $25,000

Closing: Friday 22 January 2021

Grants will be offered to support farmers, land managers and community groups to implement local projects for weed control and pest control, animal welfare and veterinary services in bushfire impacted areas in the Northern Tablelands. Classifications of grants available are for small scale on-farm demonstrations or on-farm projects.

NSW Environmental Trust R&R Grants

Funds: $50,000 - $170,000

Closing: 14 December 2020 (3pm)

The NSW Environmental Trust is now inviting applications to the 2020/21 round of its Restoration and Rehabilitation Grants Program. A total of $4 million is available for projects that assist in the ongoing sustainable management and stewardship of significant environmental assets and services in NSW.

FRRR Tackling Tough Times Together Grants

Funds: $20,000, $60,000 or $150,000.

Closing: 15 December 2020 (Stage 1 applications for the $150K tier) with applications due Thursday 25 February 2021. 

The Tackling Tough Times Together grant program helps communities access the resources they need to support one another through the ongoing effects of the drought. Grants are available for a broad range of grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and assessed quarterly.

Drought Assistance Fund Expanded

The NSW Government has announced the Drought Assistance Fund has been increased to $100,000. This interest-free loan has a term of seven years, with no repayments in the first two years. 

Available to primary producers for the implementation of systems & management practices that enhance the sustainability of their farm business. The loan can fund:

  • NEW: Restocking purposes.
  • The transport of stock, fodder and water
  • Genetic banking of breeding herds
  • Installation of on-farm fodder and water infrastructure
  • Activities that promote profitability and resilience as a result of the on-farm investment

Local Land Services Public Land Boundary Fencing Program

Private landholders who share a boundary with public land and were impacted by the Northern and Southern fires of late 2019 and early 2020 are eligible to receive up to $5,000 per kilometre to contribute to the replacement of damaged boundary fences.

BCT are calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from people interested in earning annual payments to conserve biodiversity on their property.
